Austin Public Education Foundation (APEF) works to assist Austin Public Schools in funding class supplies, class projects, grants and awards that improve the quality and education of its students in pre-K through 12th grade. APEF serves an important role in providing teachers with needed supplies; educating and recognizing our children; and improving the quality of our community.
Austin High School Alumni & Friends Association connects alumni with updates on fellow AHS alumni; upcoming reunions; alumni events; and happenings at today’s Austin High. Much of this done through the Alumni Association’s twice-a-year Post-Sentinel publication given to paid members. The group also runs a page on Facebook.
Our Mission
Austin Public Education Foundation’s mission is based on a passionate commitment to be an innovative source of funding to supplement and support programs in Austin Public Schools. Our vision is to enhance and expand the educational experience and opportunities available to all the students pre-K through 12th grade in Independent School District #492.
History
Founded in 1990, the Austin Public Education Foundation is a nonprofit corporation to benefit Austin Public Schools but is separate from the school district. The only beneficiaries of APEF’s programs and projects are the more than 5,000 students, teachers and staff who learn and work in Austin Public Schools. APEF’s first grant was awarded in 1992 for $500. Since then, more than $880,000 in grants have been awarded to the Austin Public Schools and its students. Quite a contrast and strong evidence of what can be accomplished when people in the community care.
Huntting Endowment Fund was established by James and Joanne Huntting with a $100,000 donation. Many other individuals, organizations and businesses have added to this generous gift by the Hunttings. Grants awarded from the Huntting Endowment Fund aim to benefit students and projects in all grade levels.
Packer Endowment Fund benefits co-curricular activities in Austin Public Schools. More than 60 percent of the income generated from this fund’s investments are used for boys’ and girls’ athletic programs at all grade levels.
The Huntting and Packer Endowment funds of the Austin Public Education Foundation are never spent. Only the income earned through investments is used to fund programs and projects. Your donation to the endowment funds is a gift that keeps on giving…
